| Since
decorating for Halloween is a way that your toddler and
you can enjoy the holiday that only last for one evening
you'll enjoy this spooky decoration that has witches, ghosts,
bats and pumpkins. |
| Step
1: First decide if your little one will be using
colored construction paper or using crayons to color onto
plain paper for their witches, ghost, etc. Either way you
can begin cutting out the different shapes of the Halloween
symbols that you want to use. You may consider doing this
prior to sitting down with your child. Scissors are very
dangerous and it can help your young one from becoming interested
in them if they do not see you do all of the cutting. |

| Step
2: Once you have all of your pieces have your toddler
decorate them. Have them add black dots for eyes on the ghost
shapes, add a face to witches, add a face to the jack-o-lantern
pumpkins. This is the best part of the project for your toddler
because it allows to use their own choices of how to do thing,
expressing their creativity. Once your toddler finishing one
of the Halloween symbols you can begin doing step 3. |
|
| Step
3: Thread the shapes through string. You can use
a hole punch, a pair of scissors or needle to do this. As
stated before you can thread an item as soon as your toddler
is finished and begins working on the next one. This way
you both will stay busy at the same time. Once you have
all the pieces on the string you're done. Enjoy this decoration
this time around and save it to hang up the Halloween in
the next year. |

In
the example of this craft we worked with small pieces of
paper however it is easier for you and your child you can
alter the design to have larger pieces. Mixing up the sizes
that you use can help your child work on sizing and if you
do you small pieces working with such pieces will help your
child work on their fine motor skills.
