A
flute is something that your child can have a lot of fun
with. With little effort they are able to create very, very
loud music. Something that you may have more fun with is
if they had a silent flute. Making a silent flute can be
a fun craft that your toddler can enjoy doing and playing
a silent flute will encourage them to use their imagination. |
| Step
1: Cut out a piece of construction paper that is
the length of the paper towel roll or toilet paper roll that
you are using. Make sure the piece of paper is going to me
long enough that it will wrap around that rolls as well. The
color of the paper is up to your toddler. If you toddler would
prefer a long flute and you don't have any paper towel rolls
you can tape two toilet paper rolls together. |
|
| Step
2: Using a crayon, colored pencil or pen help your
toddler draw in the holes for the flute. Depending on the
size of the roll will determine the number dots that you will
need. Leave about a fourth of the of a toilet paper roll size
flute blank as you will be creating a mouth piece. Your toddler
can have fun drawing the dots on the flute and can choose
to make them which ever colors they want. |
|
| Step
3: To make the mouth piece you will need to make
two cuts in the side of the roll just behind the dots that
you have made. Then with the help of your toddler press down
on the roll to create an hour glass shape for the mouth piece
of the silent flute. Now the silent flute is ready to be played
with. Your young child can have a blast pretending that they
are playing music. |
|
| You
can even play some classical music for your toddler and they
can pretend that they are playing the wind instruments of
the music. This will encourage them to use their imagination
as well as introduce them to some classical music if you are
not already listening to it. |
