| One
of the most fun kind of craft to do for a young child and their
parent is a picture frame. Not only does the child get a chance
to create a gift for someone that he or she loves, but they
also get to create a gift that is about them. There are a variety
of different picture frame crafts available and this one is
particularly fun because it is simple and displays two different
pictures. |
| Step
1: A small size cereal box, usually the size that
you find granola cereals in, works great for this craft because
you can just cut out one side without having to trim anymore
off. This can easily be accomplish with a standard pair of
scissors and something that the adult involved can either
do before or at the beginning of the craft. If the size of
cereal box that you are using for the craft is quite large
consider that you want the size of the cardboard square to
be long enough to hold two 4 x 6 pictures with a small border
around each picture. |
|
| Step
2: The next step involves some more cutting and bending
the cardboard. Cutting cardboard is pretty tricky for your child
to help out with but cutting a piece of paper that is the same
size as the cardboard piece is something that your child can
help with. Also, you can work together to fold over the cardboard
so that you have two equal sides and do the same with the paper
and glue it on. This is an excellent opportunity in the craft
to talk to your child about simple fractions, squares, and rectangles.
This will make doing the craft both fun and educational for
your child. |

| Step
3: Finally, it is time to place the pictures on the
frame. You and your child can choose two of your favorite pictures
to use on the frame. Then using either tape or glue help your
child secure each picture on each side of the frame. If you
use a lot of liquid glue it can unfortunately wrinkle the picture,
so it is a good idea to help your child either apply a minimal
amount of liquid glue or have them use a glue stick. If you
want to avoid the trouble of glue all together tape will work
just as well. With your pictures in place the craft is done,
once any glue has dried, and your child will have the perfect
gift for Mother's Day, Father's Day, or Grandparent's Day. |
