| There
are many different ways that you can turn some cardboard from
a cereal box and construction paper into some really cool and
fun picture frames. These kinds of homemade frames make these
crafts ideal for toddlers and young children to give as gifts
for all sorts of occasions. Grandparents, parents, aunts and
uncles all enjoy something that was made with love from a young
child. They also really love pictures. That is why a picture
frame can be a great gift. One frame craft that you can make
is a hanging one. |
| Step
1: The first step of making this picture frame craft
with your toddler is to cut the front out of a cereal box.
Depending on the size that you want the picture that it holds
to be will affect how how much you trim from here. On some
cereal boxes you can cut the front in half and each square
will be a great size for a standard four by six inch picture.
Leave a couple inches in each direction of the size of picture
you're using. Feel free to use as many small pictures on to
the frame as it will hold or just one big one. It is really
all up to you and your toddler on how you want the craft to
be like. |

2: The next thing that you want to do is cut out one
or two identical pieces of construction paper to cover the cardboard.
You can make the pieces square like the cardboard or you can
make it slightly larger and cut a fun design on the edge. If
you don't care what the back of the picture frame looks like
don't worry about cutting out the second piece. Since it will
be against the wall you and your toddler can let it be. At this
time cut out any small pieces or shapes that your toddler wants
to add to the edge of the this picture frame craft. |
|
| Step
3: Help your toddler or young child glue the pieces
of construction paper on to the cardboard. Have your toddler
color or paste on shapes onto the area around the edge of the
frame. They are welcome to draw or paste all over the construction
paper but keep in mind that a lot of it will be covered up when
you add the picture. The smaller the pictures are the more you
going to see what it is that your toddler drew. While your toddler
is drawing on the construction paper on the frame you can cut
the string you'll use to hold the picture frame up. |
|
| Step
4: The last step is very simple. All that you have
left to do is glue each end of the piece of string to the two
top corners of the picture frame craft. If the picture you are
using is a portrait glue the corners that are at the top of
the shorter side and if the picture is a landscape glue the
corners that are at the top of the long side of the piece of
cardboad. You also have the option of threading the string through
the corners and picture frame and tying the ends. All that is
left to do is pick out the perfect picture(s) to display on
the picture frame and to glue or tape it in the center of it.
