| If
you are ever in the need to make a functional craft or to use up
one of the dozens of toilet paper rolls that you have collected
for crafts look no further. This St. Patrick's Day leprechaun craft
is a perfect way to get a durable figure for your child to play
with and uses a toilet paper roll. |
| Step
1: You will need to cut out two small squares of yellow
construction paper, two small strips of black paper, two strips
of green paper with one slightly wider than the other, a standard
strip of brown paper and a strip of brown paper that looks like
a beard, and a circle that is bigger then the circumference of a
toilet paper roll. You will also have to cut out a circle that is
the circumference of a toilet paper roll out of the first circle.
Remember all strips must be long enough to wrap around the toilet
paper roll. |

Step
2: It may feel like there is a lot of cutting in this craft
but by getting it all out of the way you can quickly begin the fun
process of putting the craft together. First, place the standard
brown strip at the bottom of the toilet paper roll. The the less
wide green strip directly above it. Leave a gap of toilet paper
roll and glue on the googly eyes and above them glue on the second
strip of green construction paper so that part of it hangs above
the toilet paper roll. |

| Step
3: Next carefully place the larger circle that you have
cut out over the top of the toilet paper roll. You may have to do
a little trimming around the inside of it if it does not fit smoothly
over the green paper. Just be careful to not cut away so much that
it will not stay in place. Then carefully push down the paper that
is hanging over the top of the toilet paper roll and place the smaller
circle that you cut out so that it the top of the hat. Glue or tape
it in place. |
|
| Step
4: This next step adds some fun details to the craft and
makes it almost instantly transform into a leprechaun. Place one of
the black paper strips around the top of the brown strip and a yellow
square in the center of it. Then do the same with other black strip
and yellow square at the base of the hat. The last step is to place
the beard on the leprechaun. Now your child has a fun little figure
to play with. |
