| Some
of the most fun crafts that you can do with your child are some
of the most simplest. Small children and toddlers may love to have
craft time, but they enjoy having a craft that they can be involved
with. This simple craft has the young ones in mind with them being
able to help with most of it. |
| Step
1: The first step of the craft is not something that a
young child or toddler will want to do, or rather it is not likely
something that you want them to do. You need to cut a toilet paper
roll. To make the pot of gold you only need one-third of a toilet
paper roll. You and your child can make three pots of gold with
just one toilet paper roll. If you want your child involved in this
part have them help you draw a line around the toilet paper roll
where they would like you to cut. |

2: The next part of cutting can involve your child because
it is cutting construction paper. You two will need to cut out one
strip of black paper that is as tall as the piece of toilet paper
roll and long enough to completely wrap around it. Cutting a strip
is not too difficult and your child can help you guide the scissors.
Next cut a circular shape and pile-of-gold-coins shape of yellow paper.
Even if you do not have your child helping directly with the cutting
you can always involve them by asking for their input. |
|
| Step
3: This step they can do will little assistance. Have them
put glue on the outside of the toilet paper roll and tape one side
of the strip in place. This way they can easily get the rest of
the strip to wrap around the glue and stick to the toilet paper
roll. Help them secure with glue or tape the yellow circular shape
in the middle of the pot of gold and the pile-of-gold-coins shape
to the inside side of the pot of gold. |
|
| Since
this craft does not have that many steps involved it is an easy task
for young children to do themselves and works well in large groups
of children. Also, because it takes so few supplies it is easy to
justify making lots of these with different variations of the pile
of gold and you can even add decorations to the outside of the pot
of gold to make it more interesting. You and your child can have extra
fun deciding how you want to customize their personal pot of gold.
