| This
toddler craft is great because you do not have to use glue,
tape or scissors to make it. The best paper to use for this
is a piece of printer paper and the best tea would be black
tea. These are usually things that everyone keeps on hand
and certainly things that are very easy to get if you don't
have them. |
| Step
1: Have your toddler draw their pirate map. While
they are doing this make a cup of tea. The cup of tea itself
you will not use for the craft project but the tea bag you
will. Take the used tea bag and ring it out over a saucer,
then set it on the rim of the saucer. This way it won't be
tripping but if you need to juice it up you'll have some tea
you can dab it in. Make sure before your toddler handles the
tea bag or the saucer of tea that it is cooled off so it will
not burn them. |

2: If your toddler or you would like to add the look
of age to your map you can crinkle it up before applying the
tea bag. This is something that is usually fun for your child
to do, but if you decide to do this step make sure that you
or your toddler, whom ever is doing the crinkling, that care
is taken not to rip the map. Tarring bits of paper off at the
edges can make the map look more aged but this is something
that should be done carefully and by the adult in the project. |

3: Have your toddler dab the tea bag all throughout
the map. This will change the white color to the classic tan
that you find pirate treasure maps are made of. If you find
that the tea bag is dried out too much dab it in the tea in
the saucer and lightly ring it out again and have you toddler
finish coloring the map. Once the map is completely dry your
little one can go look for treasure. Remember X marks the
spot. Arrrr!!! |

| This
is a very classic craft that as a child I made numerous times.
It is something that my son enjoys doing as well. It is much
less messy than painting and yet your child still gets the satisfaction
of getting their hands messy. It is very quick to put together,
does not involve any kind of cutting and is fun is large groups
and small groups. |
